Vatican 5 Euro 2025 - Sede Vacante MMXXV (BU) is a rectangular Vatican commemorative silver coin issued during the Sede Vacante period of 2025. The design refers to the vacancy of the Holy See and combines traditional Vatican symbolism with a religious composition inspired by the descent of the Holy Spirit.
The obverse features the coat of arms of Cardinal Camerlengo Kevin Joseph Farrell, who administers the Apostolic See during a vacant period. It includes the inscriptions SEDE VACANTE, MMXXV and STATE IN FIDE, together with the marks of designer Daniela Longo and engraver Silvia Ciucci. The reverse depicts the descent of the Holy Spirit, with the dove surrounded by angels, inspired by Guido Reni's 1608 fresco in the Vatican Apostolic Palaces. The denomination 5 EURO and CITTA' DEL VATICANO are also shown.
The coin is struck in .925 silver in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) quality. Its rectangular format measures 35 x 26.3 mm, while the legal weight is 18 g. With a limited mintage of 10,068 pieces, it is an appealing issue for Vatican, papal and modern European numismatic collections.
Complectation: 1 Vatican silver commemorative coin in BU quality.
