Collectible Estonian banknotes cover two key periods: the Estonian mark (1919–1927) and the Estonian kroon (1928–1940 and 1992–2010). In 2011, Estonia adopted the euro, completing the history of its national currency.
The first treasury issues — Estonian marks — appeared after the declaration of independence in 1918 and circulated until 1927. These banknotes are rare and highly valued by collectors as a testimony to the establishment of the young republic’s financial system.
In 1928, the Estonian kroon was introduced at a rate of 1 kroon = 100 marks. Banknotes were issued in denominations from 1 to 100 kroons. They featured classical design, national symbols, and high-quality printing. Issues from this period are now considered rare and collectible.
After regaining independence in 1991, Estonia reintroduced the kroon (1992–2010). Banknotes were issued in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, and 500 kroons with portraits of prominent cultural and scientific figures, as well as national landscapes. These banknotes remain popular among collectors even after the switch to the euro in 2011.
We offer only genuine, authenticated pieces. Notes in UNC (Uncirculated) condition are particularly sought after and much rarer.
Enhance your collection with Estonian banknotes — from the first marks of 1919 to the last kroons before the euro: each issue preserves an important piece of the nation’s history!
