Italy 2 Euro Roll 2026 “Carlo Collodi” – 25 Coins Special Edition commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Carlo Collodi (1826–2026), the Italian author whose name is inseparably connected with one of the world's most famous literary characters, Pinocchio. Issued by the Italian Republic and struck by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (IPZS), Rome, this special roll contains 25 uncirculated commemorative €2 coins in Fior di Conio/UNC quality.

The national side presents an expressive interpretation of Pinocchio, with the character shown in a dynamic pose. Particularly interesting is the accompanying shadow: it depicts the Talking Cricket balanced on Pinocchio's lengthening nose, referring to one of the best-known episodes in Collodi's story, in which the puppet's nose grows after telling a lie. The composition therefore combines the recognizable figure of Pinocchio with a symbolic reference to one of the central themes of the original tale.

The design carries the inscriptions “CARLO COLLODI” and “1826–2026”, marking the author's bicentenary, while “PINOCCHIO” identifies the literary character celebrated by the issue. The national side also includes the “R” mintmark of the Rome Mint, the monogram of the Italian Republic and the designer's initials. The coin's outer ring is completed by the twelve stars of the European Union.

This roll is the dedicated special 25-coin roll format of the 2026 commemorative issue. Unlike the separately packaged BU Coincard, Proof and Reverse Proof versions, the roll contains 25 Fior di Conio coins together in the official mint roll format. The Italian Mint allocated 250,000 coins to 10,000 rolls of 25 pieces, making the roll itself a clearly defined collector format. The issue date was 5 March 2026.

The Carlo Collodi €2 issue is also notable because the same commemorative design introduced Italy's first €2 Reverse Proof finish. However, this product is the Fior di Conio/UNC special roll, preserving the standard brilliant uncirculated appearance of the coins. With 25 identical commemorative coins, the original roll is particularly suitable for collectors who prefer mint packaging, thematic euro collections and complete rolls rather than individual pieces.
