Mauritania 500 Ouguiya 2013 (Pick P-18) is a hybrid-substrate uncirculated banknote issued by the Central Bank of Mauritania as part of the 2011–2015 series. Its intricate design and rich symbolism make it a collector’s favourite.
The obverse features ornate geometric and arabesque patterns, with Arabic inscriptions and denomination numerals “٥٠٠” in the corners, a watermark of a bearded man with electrotype “500,” and a windowed security thread marked “BCM 500.”
The reverse depicts workers harvesting in the field and the entrance to the F’Derick mining complex, symbolising agriculture and mineral wealth. Texts are printed in French.
Issued on 28 November 2013, printed by Giesecke & Devrient (Germany), and withdrawn on 1 July 2018, this note measures approximately 138 × 65 mm.
