Malta Euro Coin Set 2026 BU (9 Coins, Valletta) is the official Maltese 2026 euro coin set, combining the eight standard Malta euro denominations with the special €2 commemorative coin dedicated to Valletta. All nine coins are presented in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) quality and form a complete dated set for 2026. The official mintage is limited to 7,000 sets.
The highlight of the set is the 2026 commemorative €2 coin from the Maltese Walled Cities series, dedicated to Valletta. Malta's fortified capital was founded by the Order of St John following the Great Siege of 1565, with the foundation stone laid by Grand Master Jean Parisot de Valette on 28 March 1566. Valletta was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980. The commemorative design presents a perspective view of the historic city and its fortifications, accompanied by the inscription VALLETTA MALTA 2026.
The national side of the Valletta €2 coin was designed and engraved by Noel Galea Bason, while the common European side follows the design of Luc Luycx. The commemorative €2 is a standard bimetallic euro coin with a diameter of 25.75 mm and a weight of 8.50 g. Its design complements Malta's long-running series of commemorative coins dedicated to the country's historic walled cities.
The remaining eight coins represent the complete Maltese euro denomination range from 1 cent to €2. Malta's regular euro coin designs feature important national symbols including the Maltese cross, the coat of arms of Malta and the prehistoric Mnajdra temple. Together with the Valletta commemorative €2, the set provides a complete overview of Malta's 2026 euro coinage in one coordinated collector presentation.
The coins are presented together as an official annual collector set in BU quality.
