Latvia 5 Euro 2015 “Fairy Tale Coin I. Five Cats” is the first issue in Latvia’s “Fairy Tale Coin” series, inspired by a popular folk story about five cats who live together, share adventures, and symbolize friendship, comfort, and cleverness.
Obverse: shows a bed with five sleeping cats. The footboard is decorated with a pattern and the inscription “2015”. The cats’ names – Muris, Ņuris, Incis, Mincis, and Puncis – are arranged in a semicircle on the right side.
Reverse: features a cat holding a porridge bowl in the center, flanked by two cats with smaller bowls and spoons. The inscriptions “KAĶI” and “EURO” appear at the top, separated by the number “5”.
Edge: the inscriptions “LATVIJAS BANKA” and “LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA”, separated by rhombic dots.
The coin is struck in Proof quality from 925° silver, with a limited mintage of 10,000 pieces. Supplied in a presentation box with capsule and certificate of authenticity.
