2 Euro San Marino 2026 – 450th Anniversary of the Death of Titian commemorates the 450th anniversary of the death of Tiziano Vecellio (Titian), one of the leading masters of the Venetian Renaissance. Titian died in Venice in 1576, and his exceptionally long career had a profound influence on European painting, particularly through his sophisticated use of colour, light and layered tonal effects.

The national side presents a detail from Titian's celebrated “Allegory of Wisdom”, a work associated with the ceiling of the Marciana Library in Venice. The central allegorical figure is surrounded by the inscriptions TIZIANO and SAN MARINO. On the right is the R mintmark of the Rome Mint, while the dates 1576–2026 and the initials SC of designer Silvia Ciucci complete the composition. The twelve stars of the European Union form the outer ring.

Titian, whose full name was Tiziano Vecellio, was born in Pieve di Cadore and established his artistic career in Venice. He became one of the defining figures of Venetian painting, producing religious compositions, portraits and mythological works for influential patrons including European rulers. His artistic language evolved throughout the 16th century, with increasingly expressive brushwork and sophisticated colour relationships that helped shape the development of later European painting.

This edition is presented in the official Coincard / FDC collector format with the coin in BU quality. The Coincard version has a dedicated mintage of 52,000 pieces. The coin was struck at the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome, which produces San Marino euro coins under agreement. The combination of Titian's Renaissance heritage, the detailed reproduction of a historic artwork and the limited official Coincard presentation makes this issue particularly suitable for collectors of San Marino, Italian art and European cultural heritage.
