The Iran 2,000 Rials 2005 banknote (Pick P-144d) is part of the 23rd series of the Islamic Republic currency, issued by the Central Bank of Iran. The obverse bears the portrait of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and the reverse depicts the Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia — a sacred symbol in Islam. The signatures of Governor Mahmud Bahmani and Minister Seyed Shamseddin Hosseini are present.
Issued between 2005 and 2013, this note substitutes earlier versions with alternate signatures and continues standard circulation of 2,000 Rials denomination. It includes a watermark of Khomeini and visible security thread.
