Coin Design
Obverse
The large coat of arms of the Republic of Latvia is placed in the center. The numeral 5, with the year 1931 above, is inscribed below the central motif. The inscriptions "PIECI" and "LATI" appear on the left and right sides.
Reverse
The reverse features a Latvian folk-maid in profile, facing right. She has ears of corn on her shoulder, symbolizing national identity and prosperity. The inscriptions "LATVIJAS" and "REPUBLIKA" appear on either side of the central motif.
