The 10 Markkaa 1986 banknote from Finland (Pick P-113a(7)) is a modern Finnish issue presented in UNC (Uncirculated) condition, featuring one of the most iconic athletes in history.
Obverse: depicts Paavo Nurmi, a legendary Finnish long-distance runner, widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time. Known as the “Flying Finn”, he won 9 Olympic gold medals and 3 silver medals during the 1920s, becoming a global symbol of endurance, discipline and sporting excellence. His portrait on the banknote reflects Finland’s pride in its sporting heritage.
Reverse: features a stylized athletics stadium and running track, symbolizing Nurmi’s achievements and Finland’s strong traditions in athletics.
