Finland 2 Euro 2026 “100 Years of Yleisradio” – UNC commemorates the centenary of Yleisradio (Yle), Finland’s national public broadcasting company, founded in 1926. Over a century, Yle has played a central role in bringing news, education, culture and entertainment to Finnish audiences, evolving from traditional radio broadcasting into a modern multimedia and digital public-service broadcaster. The commemorative issue therefore celebrates not only an institution, but also the transformation of communication technology and the role of shared information in Finnish society.

The national side features a highly contemporary and minimalist composition designed by Finnish artist Petri Neuvonen. A series of precisely arranged circular elements forms the lowercase “yle” logo against a contrasting textured background. The design can be interpreted on several levels: the individual circular elements evoke information bubbles, while the overall arrangement recalls radio signals, digital pixels and the continuous flow of information. The contrast between smooth circular surfaces and the textured field also emphasizes the transition from traditional broadcasting to the digital media environment.

The inscription “SUOMI FINLAND 2026” appears along the lower-left part of the national design, presenting Finland in both of its official languages. Beneath the “yle” composition is the mintmark of the Royal Dutch Mint, which produced the coin for Finland. The twelve stars of the European Union surround the national side. The common reverse carries the standard €2 design created by Luc Luycx, with the denomination and a map of Europe.

This UNC (Uncirculated) version is intended for collectors who want the standard non-proof presentation of the commemorative issue. The official 2026 programme includes circulation/UNC pieces, BU Coincards and Proof coins. The UNC coins were produced at the Royal Dutch Mint, while Finland’s issue was officially launched on 21 May 2026. The edge carries the Finnish and Swedish country name “SUOMI FINLAND” together with three traditional Finnish lion-head symbols.
