This official Brilliant Uncirculated euro coin set was issued by the Vatican in 2005 during the *Sede Vacante* period — the interregnum between the death of Pope John Paul II and the election of Pope Benedict XVI. The set contains all 8 standard euro denominations, from 1 cent to 2 euro.
The obverse of each coin features the coat of arms of the Camerlengo (Chamberlain) of the Holy Roman Church and the inscription “SEDE VACANTE MMV.” This makes the 2005 set unique, as it does not feature a papal portrait.
Coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition and are presented in the original Vatican packaging. Only 60,000 sets were issued, making it a sought-after piece among collectors of Vatican numismatics.
