The Costa Rica 1000 Colones 2019 banknote (Pick P-280) is part of the polymer issue by the Central Bank of Costa Rica. It combines vivid design, modern security features, and native ecological symbolism.
Obverse: Red-tinted with a security window strip at the right. Features a portrait of Braulio Carrillo Colina, the coat of arms of Costa Rica, and an outline map of the country printed in color-changing ink.
Reverse: Displays a dry forest scene with native species: the Guanacaste tree, a white-tailed deer, and the Pitahaya cactus flower. “Banco Central de Costa Rica” and “Bosque Seco” appear in the lettering.
