Brazil 50 Cruzeiros 1990 UNC banknote (Pick P-223) was issued in 1990 by the Central Bank of Brazil during the transition from Cruzado Novo to Cruzeiro.
Obverse: features a portrait of Brazilian poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade (1902–1987). In the background, the houses and mountains of his hometown Itabira, are depicted. Below the portrait is an excerpt from his poem "Prece de um Mineiro no Rio" ("Miner's Prayer in Rio").
Reverse: shows the poet writing a poem, with lines from his famous poem "Canção Amiga" ("Friendly Song") reproduced on the right.
The banknote is printed on standard 1990 paper without advanced security features.
