Collectible banknotes of Bangladesh reflect the country’s journey from independence to modern development. The national currency — the Bangladeshi taka (BDT) — was introduced in 1972, right after independence.
Regular issues include denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 taka. Their designs feature portraits of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, national monuments, architectural landmarks, traditional ornaments and cultural motifs.
In addition to circulation notes, Bangladesh has also issued commemorative banknotes, such as the 1996 10-taka note for the 25th anniversary of independence, the 2011 series (40, 50, 60, 100, 200 and 300 taka) celebrating 40 years of independence, and later jubilees dedicated to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and national milestones.
Early issues of the 1970s, commemorative notes and UNC (Uncirculated) examples are particularly valued by collectors.
Add Bangladeshi banknotes to your collection — they carry the nation’s history and identity through design and symbolism!
