2 Euro Italy 2026 – Carlo Collodi / Pinocchio Coincard is an official Italian commemorative €2 issue celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Carlo Collodi (1826–2026), the author of The Adventures of Pinocchio. This collector edition combines the commemorative coin with its Official Coincard (FDC/UNC), produced in a limited mintage of 10,000 pieces.
The national side features Pinocchio in a dynamic dancing pose, together with his shadow and the Talking Cricket appearing at the tip of his famously lengthening nose. The composition refers to one of the most recognisable episodes in Collodi's story and transforms this literary motif into a distinctive commemorative design.
The design includes CARLO COLLODI, the anniversary dates 1826–2026 and the name PINOCCHIO. The R mintmark identifies the Rome Mint, while RI represents Repubblica Italiana. The initials MB identify designer Marta Bonifacio. The common European side was designed by Luc Luycx.
This edition is presented in the Official Coincard (FDC/UNC). The coin itself is UNC (Coincard), meaning an uncirculated coin in the official Coincard presentation. Here, FDC is used as the designation for UNC quality and should not be confused with BU. With only 10,000 Coincards produced, this format represents a specifically limited collector presentation of the 2026 Carlo Collodi €2 commemorative coin.
