The Estonia 2 Euro 2026 Sipsik commemorative coin celebrates one of the most recognizable characters in Estonian children's literature. Sipsik is the little rag doll created by writer Eno Raud and illustrator Edgar Valter, first introduced to Estonian readers in 1962. Over the decades, Sipsik has become a familiar part of Estonian children's culture, making this €2 coin an especially distinctive modern Estonian issue.
The national side presents Sipsik in a characteristic stylised form inspired by Edgar Valter's illustrations. The composition combines the figure of Sipsik with the inscriptions “SIPSIK”, “EESTI” and the year 2026, surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union. The design was created by Ivar Sakk, who translated the familiar literary character into a concise numismatic composition while retaining the visual identity associated with the original illustrations.
This UNC (Uncirculated) version is intended for collectors who want the coin in its regular uncirculated quality rather than a Proof or special collector presentation. The coin is struck to the standard technical specifications of an Estonian €2 coin and preserves the normal bimetallic construction, with a copper-nickel outer ring and a nickel-brass inner disc. The combination of a well-known Estonian literary character and a modern circulating €2 format gives the issue both cultural and numismatic interest.
The coin was produced by the Lithuanian Mint. The total issue of the Sipsik €2 commemorative coin is 1,000,000 pieces, while special collector presentations were issued separately. This listing refers to the loose UNC coin, making it suitable for euro commemorative collections, thematic collections devoted to children's literature, and collectors of Estonian euro coins.
