2 Euro Croatia 2026 - 100 Years of the Croatian Radio and Television (Proof) is a special collector's edition commemorating the centenary of Croatian broadcasting. Unlike the standard circulation coin or the Brilliant Uncirculated version in blister packaging, this Proof edition features a carefully prepared finish that highlights the contrast between reflective fields and finely detailed relief. It is presented in a Croatian Mint gift box with a numbered certificate signed by the mint's general manager. The Proof issue is limited to 5,000 pieces.

The anniversary marks the beginning of regular broadcasting by Radio Zagreb on 15 May 1926 at 8:30 p.m. The first programme was transmitted on a medium-wave wavelength of 350 metres and began a century-long development from radio broadcasting to television and modern public media. Croatian Radiotelevision, known as HRT, is the legal successor to Radio Zagreb and remains a central national media institution. The coin was designed by academic sculptor Karlo Gross and minted by the Croatian Mint.

Obverse: The Croatian national side depicts radio waves arranged in five rows, symbolising the first radio signals transmitted by Radio Zagreb in 1926. The lines incorporate the inscriptions "2026", "100 GODINA HRVATSKE RADIOTELEVIZIJE" and the country abbreviation "HR". The arrangement of the waves and the central surface also evokes the Croatian checkerboard pattern, a distinctive element of the country's coat of arms. The outer ring features the twelve stars of the European flag. The Proof finish gives the design additional visual depth and makes the details especially clear.

Reverse: The common European side carries the standard €2 design, with the denomination "2 EURO" and a map of Europe extending across the inner core and outer ring. The coin's edge bears the Croatian inscription "O LIJEPA O DRAGA O SLATKA SLOBODO", meaning "Oh beautiful, oh dear, oh sweet freedom". The words come from the Hymn to Freedom, which forms part of the 17th-century pastoral play "Dubravka" by Croatian writer Ivan Gundulić.
