2 Euro Belgium 2026 - 50th Anniversary of the National Geographic Institute and 200th Anniversary of the Royal Observatory of Belgium is a commemorative issue dedicated to two Belgian institutions whose work connects the mapping of the Earth with the study of the universe. This official French-language Coincard contains one Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) 2 euro commemorative coin. The issue was unveiled on 25 September 2026 and is intended for collectors rather than circulation.

The design brings together two milestones: 50 years of the National Geographic Institute (NGI) and 200 years of the Royal Observatory of Belgium. The NGI is responsible for national geographic reference information, surveying and cartographic data, while the Royal Observatory conducts research in astronomy, geophysics and related scientific fields. The composition symbolically links the Earth and the cosmos, making the issue particularly relevant to collectors interested in science, cartography and Belgian institutional history.

Obverse: The central composition shows a child standing on a geographical map and pointing upward toward the universe. The figure represents the connection between geographical knowledge and astronomical research. Around the design are the English names of the two institutions. Below the main motif appear the country code BE, the Mint Master's mark consisting of an Erlenmeyer flask with an asterisk, and the Mercury staff mark of the Royal Dutch Mint, which produced the coin.

Reverse: The standard common reverse of the Belgian 2 euro denomination features the European map design used for euro circulation coins, together with the denomination. The coin has the characteristic bimetallic construction and the alternating upright and inverted edge inscription pattern: 2 ★ ★ repeated six times.
